Chows are powerful, compact dogs that stand about 20 inches at the shoulder. Their distinguishing features include lion crests on the head and shoulders; black tongue; deep almond eyes that add a sultry, sinister expression; and hard steps. Their owners say that Chows are the cleanest dogs out there: they break easily, have small dog heads, and are known to want like cats. Well-behaved Chows are never timid or incompetent, but always refined and respectful. They stay aloof from strangers and are forever loyal to their loved ones. Calm and flexible, with no need for special exercise, Chows adapt quickly to city life. Chow Chow dogs are a beautiful dog breed known for their blue tongue and blue coat. It is an ancient breed, originating in China more than 2,000 years ago, where they were used as hunting and guard dogs. Chow Chows are medium to large breeds, usually weighing between 45 and 70 pounds when fully grown. They are a loyal and independent breed that can be aloof from strangers but work hard for their families. They need constant training and socialization from a young age to ensure that they grow into well-behaved and well-behaved adult dogs.

Temperament

Often kept as pets, Chow Chows are very understanding with strangers and can be very protective of their owners and their possessions. The American Kennel Club standards, however, consider a Chow Chow that is aggressive or shy as unacceptable. Because of this, some owners have expressed feline behavior in the Chow Chow.

Chow Chow is not very active, which means that it can be kept at home. However, a Chow Chow living indoors will need daily exercise to avoid rest and exhaustion. Realizing that exercise is a daily occurrence, the Chow Chow will work hard and its owners look forward to such activities. This type of dog has many strong bonds with friends and family, but the Chow Chow dog usually protects one or two family members. It is in the nature of the breed that it is calm and well-behaved, but they are also resistant to training. Chow Chows become more stubborn and affectionate with some people as they get older. This makes their upbringing very important when they are puppies since those who care for them respect them. To avoid aggression and over-protectiveness during puberty, continuing to socialize as soon as possible allows the dog to adjust. When the Chow Chow reaches adulthood, it rejects the authority of any owner who does not get its attention. Violent behavior can be a unique characteristic of this breed, although some are violent in nature, many are known to be easy-going in nature - sometimes taking a negative attitude to people who are not their owners. Aggression when exposed is common with other dogs of the same sex, especially Chows. Because of their strong hunting intent, it is recommended that these dogs stay on the fence, on a leash, and away from cats and small dogs. This is why it is important that they are socialized early and regularly so that they can interact appropriately around strangers. At first, Chow Chows do not like to socialize with strangers. However, this problem can be avoided if the owners train the Chow Chow at a young age. Owning a Chow Chow can increase the cost of home insurance, as some companies consider them high-risk dogs. In a study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Chow Chow was the cause of 8 deaths out of 238 dogs from 1979 to 1998.
